It’s been a totally exhausting weekend, every minute of the entire weekend seemed to be booked. I’m not complaining, since most of it was delightful — spending times with friends and family. But I am pooped and Monday morning is just a little too close for comfort.
Friday night David and I joined friends at the comedy club at Mohegan Sun. We had a great night of noodles, sushi, and martinis (well, no sushi for me…) and had a great night of laughs. We were lucky that both the opening and main acts were hilarious. I really needed some laughs and it felt good. Afterwards we did a bit of gambling…the big gamblers that we are. I lost $20; David won $9. 🙂 It was 2:00 a.m. before we got to bed. That’s certainly the latest I have willingly been up in decades. Well worth it, though.
Saturday we were off to a charity bowling event, followed by a slew of errands, and baking of a cake. With my brother’s birthday this weekend, I had offered to bake the cake that my mother has made for him every year since, well, forever. I wish I could say it was a healthy cake, but alas, it was not. Vanilla cake, with crushed pineapple, vanilla pudding, and Cool Whip.
Today started with brunch with college friends so we can make plans for our upcoming college reunion of music grads. (I’m really looking forward to that!) That was followed by some shopping and my brother’s birthday party. And, yes, the cake was delicious. Mom would have been proud. 🙂
And so here it is. Sunday night. Watching the snow and sleet falling, doing laundry, and paying bills. Not the most exciting way to end the weekend, but it can’t be fun and games all the time…
Dinner is in the crock pot, all ready for tomorrow’s dinner. Pasta Fagioli Soup with lots of beans, zucchini, tomatoes, and, of course, pasta. I love doing the crock pot recipes, but this one only needs 3-4 hours, so I’ll have my dad stop during the day to turn it on for me. That’s my only gripe about this particular cook book. Many of the recipes are for a few hours, then add ingredients and cook for a few more hours. Like if I had the time to hang out and wait for that, I would just cook. It sort of defeats the point of using a crock pot. At any rate, it will be nice to have dinner done when I get home tomorrow.
Thanks to my family and friends for a lovely weekend. It was great to spend time and laugh with you all!
