I know there are those who would scoff at the thought that pennies can actually be delivered from Heaven, but I, for one, believe in it whole-heartedly. Shortly after my first husband died, the pennies started appearing. It started with the six pennies I found two weeks after his death. I was home alone, doing some house cleaning. I had scrubbed and vacuumed the upstairs and was working on the first floor. I decided to carry some laundry to my bedroom and found three pennies on the carpet that I had just vacuumed. There was no logical explanation for their appearance, but I just put them in my pocket and carried on.
Later that day, after finishing my cleaning, I sat down on the living room sofa. When I looked down, I saw three pennies on the floor. Yes, the floor I had vacuumed 30 minutes prior. I thought perhaps that these were the three pennies from my pocket, but they were not. The original three were still in my pocket where I put them.
From that point on, and for the last 15 years, I find pennies everywhere. I won’t bore you with the countless stories of these pennies appearing in my life, but they have appeared when I needed encouragement, when I have had a difficult choice to make, and when I was enormously happy. My friends and family are amazed by it, as they have been witnesses to this, and we all believe they are from Ray. So I pick them up, and say a prayer or a hello.
After my mom died, a friend told me to watch out for pennies from Mom. The day after she said this to me was the day I was looking for the gift necklace I mentioned in Mom’s eulogy. My jewelry is always hugely disorganized, strewn all over my dresser, my bathroom counter, my jewelry armoire. I was getting a bit frantic as I searched for it and was going back and forth between the dresser and the armoire. There’s a lid on the top that you lift up, and about the third time I lifted the lid, a penny literally fell into the jewelry. Now, of course, I understand that the penny was likely on top of the lid, and that it didn’t drop from the sky, but it was just so weird how it fell. “Clink.” I just stared for the longest time.
This one surprised me more than most of them, and I had to wonder… is it from Ray, or is it from Mom? I jokingly said “Mom, you need to do nickles or something, because how will I know?” The next day, when I opened a book to start journaling… there was a $20 bill. I know you nay-sayers are thinking “coincidence”, but I know better. 🙂
