Since I started using my FitBit One on April 11th, I have really struggled to hit the 10,000 steps goal per day. Most days, it’s an achievement to reach 5,000 steps, especially on the days that I am at work.
In order to help reach higher numbers, I’ve taken some additional “steps”. 1) I now park in the far end of the parking lot. 2) I use the ladies room on a different floor and at the other end of the building. 3) I try to get up at least once an hour to walk a bit… to the water cooler, to someone’s desk, a few paces around my office.
This past Sunday, it was a beautiful day and my husband suggested a walk around Lake Scranton. Wanting to hit my goal at least once, I quickly accepted the offer and the three of us went on our merry way. I’m happy to report that, for the first time, I not only hit 10,000, but actually went over 12,000!!! (The lake is 3.5 miles around.)
Here is a picture of Ethan and me. I can’t believe he is almost as tall as me (not even 12 until later this month), and I am happily sporting my new Wicked tee! (Defying Gravity: greatest Broadway tune ever!)
Today, I am in Hartford, CT, for work and, again, I am trying very hard to hit 10,000 steps. I am here for a leadership offsite for two days at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts (what a beautiful building!). It’s about about a 15 minute walk, so a few of us opted NOT to take the shuttle. So I walked to and from the Bushnell, and at lunch a few of us took advantage of the georgeous day to walk around Bushnell Park. As of 9:26 PM, I am 9,297, so I plan on doing a lot of jogging in place in my hotel room until I hit 10,o00!
Tomorrow, I don’t think I’ll get as many steps in, but I will give it my best shot. I plan again to walk to/from the Bushnell and hopefully can get another lunchtime walk in. At 3:00, we’ll be heading back home.
