Radiation countdown: 7 to go!
Today’s radiation appointment was pretty interesting, as I got set up for my booster radiation treatments. I only have one regular treatment left. As I have mentioned, I have been pretty lucky about the condition of my skin. Today was the first that I really noticed any discoloration. Not really pink or red, but more of a splotchy tan. Think of burning yourself and what it looks like after the burn starts to heal. I noticed one particular patch of color on my collar bone. As I learned this week, there are lymph nodes above/around the collar bone, so that is a target area.
To set up for my boosters, they took Wednesday’s drawing of my scar, added 1 cm around, and culled this shape out of a 1″ thick slab of lead. This lead plate is then placed in another contraption and then attached to the regular machine (such technical terms!). The techs worked on lining up the lights through this lead plate to my scar and then the doctor came in to verify that the set up was accurate. I guess I’m all set for those last six!
I finally finished reading “The Winner” by David Baldacci (my 4th book in a row by him… highly recommend!) and started “The Omnivore’s Dilemma”. I look forward to further enlightenment from this one!
