Day 5 of no hot water. The serviceman came this afternoon, as scheduled, and we were hoping it was a quick fix based on what the guy at the manufacturers said. Unfortunately, we learned that the hot water heater is shot. Hmmm… Wednesday afternoon, Thanksgiving Eve. What are the chances? So after several calls to Lowe’s, and even use of the cancer card, we got a green light for installation tonight. Just a mere $430 for installation, including the $150 for emergency installation. It’s already been five days, and they couldn’t commit to anything outside of “we’ll try for Friday or Saturday but it might be next week”, so it’s $150 well spent. Do I feel badly that the cancer card was played? Not really. The guy at Lowe’s was super nice and said he understood because his wife had died from cancer. (It truly is just everywhere.) I just know that 4 days of boiling water and sponge bathing isn’t going to cut it anymore!
Speaking of shot… I’m very sad that the second deer in a week has gotten hit by a car in front of the house and has been shot in my front yard. They are beautiful animals and I love having them around the house. Both were really struggling to get up. At least someone will feed their family from it.
Sleep update: I took a Compazine before bedtime and hit the sack early, but couldn’t fall asleep. I finally got to sleep a little before 10:00 and was up at 11:15. Ugh. At about midnight, I took a Tylenol PM and the combination must have been the trick because I was able to sleep through to the alarm then, which was really nice. Five whole hours…in a row! I actually felt somewhat refreshed this morning, although I faded a little as the day wore on.
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Don’t forget to count all your blessing!
