I finished reading “Food Rules” last night. It’s a great book, with lots of common sense advise based on the wisdom of many cultures and great grandmas! Rule #1: Eat food (not edible foodlike substances)! Seems so logical. In all, he offers 83 rules that will make you think twice the next time you go grocery shopping, order dinner in a restaurant, or even eat at home. I highly recommend it for people who are looking to take the first step towards healthy eating. I’m happy to loan out if anyone is interested; it’s a quick read.
Back to the juicing routine tonight. We had a lovely orange-pink-colored drink of apples, oranges, honeydew, carrots, cucumber, and strawberries (for the pink tint of course!). Unfortunately, Ethan was disappointed that we had no kale in the fridge.
I’m off to parent-teacher conferences tonight. I’m so happy I didn’t miss those! I am always so interested in what they have to say. Unless you ask 100 probing questions of Ethan, it’s really hard to get a sense of how things are going. The grades aren’t enough of the picture for me (proud to say his grades were all A- to A+), so I like to get the rest of the context.
Mom made a big pot of vegetarian chili for me tonight. I will enjoy that over some brown rice!
My sinuses are still acting up, although not as bad as last week. Tomorrow is my last dose of the antibiotics, and I’m off for weekly labs tomorrow as well. Hoping things are picking up this week on the white counts.
I am having some weird muscle aches lately. It’s kind of like the day after a major workout, when your muscles are sore, but, trust me, I am not doing anything close to a major workout. It’s been disrupting my sleep the last few nights, which isn’t helping my recovery from this sinus thing. Here’s to a good night sleep tonight (please!). Last night I woke up at 2:30 AM and wasn’t really able to get any good sleep after that. It was, as you can imagine, a long day at work. I guess I’ll be chatting with the PA about that.
We are still without hot water and the repair isn’t coming until Wednesday afternoon. Ugh! The silver lining in all this is, of course, the fact that I don’t need to wash my hair! It makes bathing a whole lot easier (yes, I’m boiling water on the stove). I guess I won’t complain given all those still struggling in NY and NJ. I can be inconvenienced for a few days.
