Ok, so the only movies I could find with the word “appointment” in them were Appointment with Danger and Appointment with Death and I didn’t like EITHER one of those! So we’ll leave it at this “Appointment with…”
My appointment with Dr. Farrell is this afternoon at 3:30. I want to re-review the pathology report with a second set of ears there (David’s) just to confirm the size and so forth, and also to address some of the additional questions I have come up with since then. I acknowledge that some of the questions won’t be answered until we meet with the oncologist, but I neglected to ask him if anything was found in my left breast (I’m assuming he would have mentioned this, but still…) and what the margins looked like. I actually had to Google margins this morning to educate myself on what that really meant. For those of you interested: http://www.breastcancer.org/questions/margins.jsp
I am also hoping to get the green light (literally) to start driving again. I got scolded for driving Ethan to the bus stop yesterday, when it was 38 degrees… Anyway, I’m also expecting to get my appointment date with the oncologist as well as confirm my return to work date. Based on prior conversations, I believe that will be next week (yes, you only get two weeks for a full mastectomy. Apparently it’s a week per breast! lol). I do feel like I’ve been off for longer than the week and a half I have been off so far. I guess that means I’m ready to go back.
Oh, and let’s not forget draining. I’m sure that will be part of today’s appointment as well. I’ll be sure to provide a full update tomorrow.
On a completely random topic, I saw this on Facebook yesterday and thought it was really interesting: http://www.mywell-being.com/trashcancer You can actually host a party to educate everyone on how to detox your house! What will they think of next?
Recipe Update: I enjoyed a DELICIOUS black bean salad yesterday, prepared by my sister-in-law Sandy. She gave me permission to share. I pretty much devoured the entire thing myself!
1 can Goya Black Bean Soup (red can). Add tomatoes, radishes, scallions, and cilantro (all very finely diced). Add a dash of garlic powder, 2 T. Worcestershire sauce, 2 T. olive oil, and salt & pepper to taste. You can add/subtract ingredients to your liking.
Juicing Update: I was happy to share juicing with some work friends yesterday when they came to visit me for lunch! I went easy on them: carrots and oranges to start!
