Thanks to all of my family and friends who have fed me (physically, emotionally, spiritually) these past few weeks as we embarked on the “restaurant tour”!! One more lunch to go! More than the great food, I have enjoyed the amazing conversation and laughs shared with people I love. Thanks to my husband and son for allowing me so many nights out, and for understanding why I needed it.
Thanks, Kelly, for sharing your extra juicer with me! I can’t wait to try it out (look for future blogs on that!).
Thanks also to my wonderful Women’s Leadership Forum friends! I love the pj’s… all 3 pairs…and I love all of you!
I got some great information in the mail yesterday from Breast Friends of PA (love the name!), including a brochure “When Mom Has Cancer: helping children cope”. I look forward to reviewing that with Ethan when the time is right. For now, he knows I am having surgery and he knows I am having my breasts removed. I alluded to chemo, but the details of that must wait. No sense in worrying him now.
I’d like to end today’s post with this beautiful poem written by my beautiful friend, Michele, in 2003, when she was dealing with her own breast cancer:
Open my eyes to those
Who have fought this battle
Those stories brought to my attention
Of the survivors who have
Repeatedly faced this ugly disease
And are here today to say
You can do it too!
The survivors are stellar examples
Of courage, strength and devotion
To prayer and Your healing.
Let the stories of these role models
Flood my life and reach my family
Offering us hope, comfort
Faith and fortitude to do
Whatever is necessary. Amen
