Dracula

Today I had an appointment at the oncologist’s for blood work and a visit with the PA.  First, let me say, I don’t get the need for a PA visit at 3 weeks out.  I needed the PA one week after Round 6, when I felt like crap and when my counts were in the toilet.  Today?  I felt great and my counts were perfect and the examination seemed totally unnecessary.  I’m struggling with the logic on that one.

So I start with my lab work, and I see the phlebotomist labeling six — yes, SIX — vials.  Now remember, the last two weeks, I was down to two vials, and I have never had six vials of blood taken.  Ever.  Of course, I ask why so many.  She mentions FSH and other “hormone things”.  So I let it go and figure I’ll get details from the PA.  Nope.  He has no idea why they took six vials and had no information as to what they were for.  Now, I have to go back in 3 more weeks and he says they will do some tests on my hormones.  Umm, I”m sorry, isn’t that what they did today???    Again, I’m shaking my head on this one.

During the exam, the PA was concerned that my blood pressure was 98/60, lower than usual.  He asked if I wanted to stay and get some fluids piped in.  I opted to go back to work and drink my fluids.  Thank you, very much.  Do you suppose it was related to all the blood they sucked out of my body… for no apparent reason???

And yes, I did actually drink quite a bit of water when I got back to work.  Well, for ME, it was a lot.  :)
